October 2017: Leonardo Padura Festival — What began with some planning for a small Cuban film festival by members of the Boston-Cuba Solidarity Coalition has turned into something of an area festival for Cuba’s most well known and celebrated novelist, Leonardo Padura. A number of his works have been made into films. A number of us are big fans and contacted him on the very off-chance he’d be interested and available to attend. Lo and behold, he’s coming in mid-October, and we’re arranging the local itinerary and related events for Leonardo’s visit to the Boston area with his wife, filmmaker Lucia López Coll, October 9-18.
